The smallest part of the workflow is the largest source of error
Every volume that leaves a pipette passes through the tip. If the tip retains liquid, releases aerosol, or carries nuclease contamination, that error enters the experiment before the first measurement — and it enters every sample on the plate, not just one.
BUNSEN supplies pipette tips as a controlled consumable rather than a commodity: virgin polypropylene, moulding and packing in a 100,000-class cleanroom, gamma irradiation to a sterility assurance level of 10-6, and a Certificate of Analysis for every batch. Filter pipette tips — stopping cross-contamination before it starts
A filter pipette tip carries an aerosol barrier between the sample and the pipette barrel. When the liquid is viscous, when the piston is released too quickly, or when a sample is vortexed between steps, droplets and aerosol travel upward. Without a barrier they reach the shaft, stay there, and contaminate the next sample loaded onto the same pipette.
Filtered pipette tips are the default choice for PCR and qPCR set-up, nucleic-acid extraction, work with infectious or volatile samples, and any workflow that shares one pipette across many samples. The barrier protects in both directions: samples do not carry over, and the pipette barrel is not exposed to DNA, RNA or amplification products.
Low retention pipette tips — for viscous, detergent-containing and high-surface-tension liquids
Standard polypropylene is hydrophobic but not perfectly non-wetting. With glycerol, serum, protein-rich buffers, detergents such as Triton or Tween, and concentrated nucleic-acid solutions, a film remains on the inner wall of the tip after dispensing. The volume left behind is small at each pipetting step, but it accumulates across a plate and shifts the result.
Low retention pipette tips reduce that residual film, so the delivered volume stays closer to the set volume and less sample is lost. They are also the practical choice when the sample itself is scarce — single-cell work, precious clinical aliquots, or enzymes that are expensive per microlitre.
Sterile pipette tips — nuclease-free by production, not by label
Tips are moulded and packed in a 100,000-class cleanroom and gamma-irradiation sterilized to a sterility assurance level of 10-6. Batches are certified free of DNase, RNase and pyrogens, with endotoxin below 0.1 EU/mL, and are produced without mould-release agents or colour additives that can inhibit amplification.
Every batch ships with a Certificate of Analysis covering sterility, endotoxin, cytotoxicity and nuclease residues. Third-party test reports can be supplied per batch for tender packages and for customers who audit incoming consumables.
Rainin pipette tips and Gilson pipette tips — matched by instrument model
BUNSEN pipette tips are matched to imported-brand pipettes by model, not only by volume: Rainin LTS, Rainin SL and standard conical (non-LTS) pipettes, and the full Gilson PIPETMAN conical range. Every model below is available in standard, filtered and low-retention grades.

What pipette tip volumes does BUNSEN supply?

What is the difference between filter pipette tips and standard tips?
Filter pipette tips carry an aerosol barrier between the sample and the pipette barrel. The barrier stops droplets and aerosol from reaching the shaft, so the next sample is not contaminated. Standard tips have no barrier and are used where carry-over is not a risk.
When should I use low retention pipette tips?
Use low retention pipette tips for viscous, detergent-containing or high-surface-tension liquids such as glycerol, serum, protein-rich buffers and concentrated nucleic acids, where a residual film on the tip wall causes volume loss. They are also the practical choice when sample volume is scarce.
Are your pipette tips sterile and nuclease-free?

Which Rainin pipette tips do you supply?
